Random thoughts of a busy man/Strange tripping

Got some post-apocalyptic images from Bucharest : an ecologist group decided to place gas-masks on all the statues in a public place to alert about the rapid deterioration in air quality, and some "show-biz" girls understand that show business is about showing your..business around even if it's darn cold and freezing and the windows are covered in beautiful frost-leaves.
Both the prince and his horse need the gas mask protection it seems. As a funny sidenote in the First World War gas masks for horses were real and were issued whenever cavalry was expecting gas attacks.

Shots in exile: the sea

The seaside...Costinesti in 2009-lots of sun..and moon.. and some very mixed-up buildings somehow translate to a happy and light atmosphere.

Unmistakeable return to the future

Past and present intertwine more than we think.. Maya ancestry in the middle of Bucharest? nope, of course-but the shapes and patterns of that old communist style have been spotted and completed by a rebellious street artist with a (nice) touch of his own; also some old buildings are restored but somehow seem to have lost their original charm.. why is that ? (second picture) ; and sometimes even the worst monuments in this city have their inspired little pieces ( last picture): the young tree logs you walk on to get to the .. horror that is the "monument" to the heroes of the Revolution..

Dreamworld: reflections in broken glass

Fragments of a waking dream.......incredible shards of commonplace reality. It is an art to really..be there.

Urban emotion-metaexpressions

Every once in a while old walls carry symbols, graffiti, inspired ideas and thoughts. From within a labyrinth of concrete and stone, jolts of life sparkle. Enough to make you feel that urban culture has a bit more to it than one would expect...And here's some of the most original "meta-expressions" .We don't need to talk about Bucharest. Bucharest talks about itself..on its own.We just have to watch and listen.

Present passe, passe present.....

Bucharest is a strange place. The more I know it the more I feel it: old relics hidden in odd places sometimes harbor what the French call "un charme fou".

All your balls are belong to us

Some people don't know English. That's fine. But from there to use those faint echoes from grade school to make up names just to sound good.. I hereby present you the most unintended obscene name for a local private law enforcer company..RO DICK PROTECT. To paraphrase, "all your balls are belong to us.You don't have much remaining, so make your time".And in the end, imagine this emblem on an old rusty decrepit car ...

Take a stand!

In my voyage to gather tools of the trade, I ran across a passionate shop assistant who was trying to get a perfect shot of this nice vase with a rather strange looking old lens while kneeling. The moment's magic was soon broken as soon as I walked in...but I chose to wait for him to finish and not ask anything just yet.. He turned his attention to the flower again. So I did what I knew best.. I drew my camera and shot it from the distance so as not to disturb.Sometimes a tele is a beautiful thing. Not only for shy people/birds.For EEEEVERYONE.

Bucharest grows green

There are ten million bicycles in Beijing..that's a fact... but so is that there are 450 new red bikes ready to roam Bucharest. A new contest had designated its winners and there's a massive "biker-fest" going on and around the city.Green lights, some flowers.. is this really what it means to grow green?

Fade to Black

I think I am right to assume most of you reading this are simply too young to have worked on film, and so the "nostalgia" these images evoke is only regarded as a moody way to take "the usual pictures". Most of us are too young to have ever seen a photographic plate or a large format bellow camera, still the looks of those old photos continue to fascinate us. So much in fact that we've come to find a digital magic recipe to simulate the limits and failures of that old technology. Strong color casts, film grain, softening of edges- all here, we actually LOVE them so they're back in the digital age.It simply works when it shouldn't. Why? Dunno.. you tell me.

Suspended Time

There are places where time seems suspended in a perpetual frozen state. These are from the old building complex of the Politehnica institute of Bucharest ) the main technical university in Romania),and look very much like a grim concentration camp. The building's age is consistent to the building style of the pre-war years.

Split Second

Wonderful things happen faster than we can see them....a few small wonders like a bird taking flight or some minute changes in wing's feathers and it turns like crazy.

Lightscape Alchemy

Fire, Water, Air, and Rock merge to create unbelievable landscapes in the most mundane places. There is a saying among photographers about a golden hour when the fires in the sky touch the ground and set it aflame with blazing colors and each lake becomes a mystic mirror for all Creation...This golden hour occurs twice each day, once around sunset and a bit after, and once just before dawn and a bit after. The colors are simply unbelievable.

Spring Reflections-II

Man is a solar being.Sunlight was celebrated to the point of worship by the ancients, and no wonder..just remember the feel of a really warm and breezy spring day and you will understand the excitement it provoked...
